question Wheres my IP address gone

My internet stopped working and it was off for some time. So I called my cablenet provider and asked the reason for the downtime but they replied that maybe my cable connection might have gone loose thats why I am not getting connected at all. Thet asked me for some information on the IP addresses but when I checked my TCP/IP settings, there was no IP address listed and nothing else. All the fields were blank. Where my IP address gone?

Do you have router or modem? Check the connections and yes, the cable connections as well as suggested by your ISP.
Well, what happens if you type 192.168.1.1 into your browser?

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 (supposing that you have XP SP2)

Start -> Run -> CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

    Reboot the machine.

To know your IP details so that you can provide the information to the ISP people those are assisting you, you can go to command prompt and type ipconfig and press enter. You will get your IP details. Otherwise, you can visit http://www.ip-details.com. Its easy way to get IP address details.

I think if you open start then type cmd then in black window type ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew this should fix your problem if you have a network connection.
Is your TCP/IP box greyed out? It might be that you might have clicked the DHCP on which removed your static IP while you require static IP!
