Connection to a LAN via the Internet

    Hello,

I have a small home network (3 computers, a shared printer, a shared disk backup, high speed internet modem ...) My network works ok internally on 3 computers, each computer access to "Desktop Connection distance "or VNC is ok

I want to have access to my network with my laptop from the hotel.

I have a vpn connection to connect to my work and I wonder if I can do the same for my home network. I tried a VPN connection without success.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you!

What you want to do is VPN network to network. What you have done is the VPN host to host.

This kind of thing, this is a router with a bit more advanced that the free box (even if the VPN host to host works well in your case).

This can also happen if the 2 PCs are servers and routers at the same time. At this point, it becomes the VPN network to network.

The issues that you need to poses:
    • What protocols do I want to move (while it is an extension of the network, only ftp, netbios, http)
    • regardless of which machine to machine
    • what protocols I want to use VPN (IPSec, L2TP, GRE).

To have made a VPN via freebox, I can tell you that it is feasible.

We must open up and redirect the proper ports, etc. ...

Normally you have a machine "server" and your buddy a "client"

when it connects, you have a notification as well what a client has connected?

If so, should have access to your shared documents (which he may try to reach directly by putting \\tonIP_de_VPN\ in the address bar of a folder)

I will simplify life, because without a good vpn router evolved and it's slow. The vpn is the upload speed and there is ... weak.

So you have an FTP server with filezilla and you doing your files where you can download, edit, and upload.

    is simpler and faster.

I advise the vpn with ADSL because the upload speed is theoretical but in practice it is the mess.
SDSL and => it is expensive for an individual.
