CAT5 or CAT5e or some other cable

    Hi guys,
I have two computers and i connect them to share my internet and play games. I need only 10base speed as i don't transfer data between them. Can i use CAT5 or CAT5e? I have a shop that sells CAT5e near my house and don't sell CAT5 to buy it i have to travel almost 5 miles Which cable is suitable for my need? Will the CAT5e cable and CAT5 cable same? Does it support RJ45 connection.

    Help guys!

    Hey There!
For your requirement, i.e : 10MBPS connection, CAT3 cable is enough. CAT3 can be operated at 10MBPS Full Duplex. Also it is cheaper then CAT 5

CAT5 and CAT5e are same physically. The main difference between them is CAT 5 supports 100MBPS Full Duplex while CAT5e supports 1000MBPS Full Duplex. Where in your speed requirenment is 10MBPS, you can use any cable from CAT3, CAT5 or CAT5e... All the best!

Yes it will be supporting all the LAN, Cable supports lower rating but not higher. Like CAT5 can support 100mbps but not 1000mbps while CAT5e can supoort 1000mbps as well 100mbps and 10mbps.
    All the best! Have Fun!
