Cannot uninstall PCTools

Hello friends,

I want to uninstall the PC Tools antivirus. But it is giving me some error and its still there on my system. can anybody find the way to uninstall it completely?

It looks to me like, you have virus infections in your system. get a new antivirus like CA Security, AVG free, etc. and try to install it. Scan and find the viruses in your computer. Try to find and delete the smaller but effective viruses by using good antivirus.

Try following steps to do uninstall:

1. Shut down your computer completely. Turn it back on and log on in "Safe" mode by pressing the "F8" key repeatedly as your system starts until you see the "Safe Mode" option.
2. Click the "Start" button and choose "Run."
3. Type in "services.msc" without quotes and click "Go" to open the service list.
4. Find "PC Tools Antivirus Engine" in the services list.
5. Right-click it and choose "Stop." and exit service list.
6. Then go to "Start" and again click on "Run."
7. Type "regedit" and Press Enter.
8. Browse following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Directory\PCTools\ by selecting the plus sign beside it.
9. Right click "PCTAV" and select "Delete."
10. Expand "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE." Expand the "Software" folder and then the "PCTools" folder.
11. Right click "PCTAV" and select "Delete,"
12. Then right click "PCTAVSvc" and click "Delete."
13. Expand "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE." Expand the "Software" folder and then expand the following folders in this order: "Microsoft," "Windows," "Current Version," "Uninstall."
14. Right click "PC Tools AntiVirus_is1" and click on "Delete." Close the Registry Editor.
15. Double-click "My Computer" and then "Local Disk ( C: )."
16. Open the "Program Files" folder and delete the delete the "PC Tools Antivirus" folder.
17. Restart your system

Download uninstaller from internet which is suitable for you. And try to uninstall PC Tools by running it. You can also try MoveOnBoot software to uninstall. It allows you to Move, Copy or Delete files before Windows can lock or alter the files.
