    Server 2008 Choice of licenses

    Hello everyone,

I have a problem with the choice of Windows Server 2008 licenses. Indeed, a company of 4 people asked me to set up fully its structure, for workstations no problem, but for 2008 server, it's corse.

The company wants an Active Directory domain and Exchange mail server (all on the same server). So I inquired about licensing and found this: http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft...oduct/85C394C5

Knowing they are 4 in the company, it is appropriate or not for my Active Directory? I am a little lost in the descriptions of all Microsoft ... And Exchange Server 2007, I found anywhere on their site a way to buy a license, unless it is included in the license that I showed above?

This is the first time that I am asked to mount a Windows network infrastructure from end to end, I usually provides all the software already, and I am a little lost there.

If someone can get information, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you in advance

It seems to me that a Small Business license would be appropriate, because in principle contains Exchange (check).

The "Windows Server 2008 5-Device Client Access License" that you show is a right of access to the server, not the Windows license itself .

For a small company trying you why not in an LDAP opensuse for example (or even on a SLES)? is cheaper for the company and it will be more than enough

Then on it works with Exchange CALs. Actually buy a basic license for Exchange Server with CAL. CAL is an exchange for the connection of 5 people at once to the mail server. Here's an example: Exchange Server Standard. With this product you can exchange installed on 1 server and you have a CAL of 5 people can connect simultaneously to the mail server.

But I repeat for 4 people, me I install an opensuse with LDAP and Postfix for the mail server.
