    VNC black screen

    Hello everyone,

I have a problem with access to my web server. Until today, I go without problems remotely via Putty and VNC Viewer 4. The last time I had the bad idea to log off of my remote session, and since when I try to login, I have a black screen! Does someone could tell me how to login.

Thank you in advance and good evening.

    Re: VNC black screen

Check that Remote Desktop has not been used to connect to Console on the remote computer. If it has been done (mstsc /CONSOLE /V:servername) then remote computer must be rebooted or all sessions reset/terminated.

    use something like qwinsta /server:servername

to check for this condition; if console and session-ID 0 are on the same line, you do NOT have this problem. If console is connected to, say, session 3, you're in this trouble. If you do not want to reboot the server, you can use

    for %a in (5 4 3 2 1) do reset session %a /server:servername <nul

which will logoff and terminate all sessions. Good night and good luck

Blank or Black Screen When Remote Control Vista System with VNC

If you using Remote Control Vista System with VNC then follow the following procedure :

The solution to this VNC Vista black desktop screen problem is easy - simply disable the Windows Vista Aero theme. To do so, right click on black space on desktop of target remote system (the one you want to remote control with VNC, where server is running), choose Personalize. Then click on Windows Color and Appearance link, follow by Open classic appearance properties for more color options link. In the Color Scheme list of options, select non-Aero theme, such as Windows Vista Basic or Windows Classic, then press OK.

If you must want and can’t live without Aero Glass effect, you can try this alternative workaround to get VNC working with Vista without turning off Aero. Install UltraVNC Server on target Vista system (server side to remote control to), then go to User Properties, and untick the Poll Full Screen option.

    Re: VNC black screen

    Hi,
The only way to get your VNC client application working again is to start a Remote Desktop Connection (or Remote Desktops if you have W2K3 server admin tools) to the Windows XP system, open a DOS prompt and type:
    Code:
    TSCON 0 /DEST:console
Your RDC connection will close, (the session will stay opened), and you'll be able to use VNC again.
