I use Returnil for some time, and I must say that it is really excellent, especially for testing software and more. Compared to other softwares in the same family is much lighter (takes about 7 MB of RAM) and also allows you to fully exploit the hardware (unlike the classic VM). The only flaw is that if you test a program that requires a restarting the same application.I hope that in the future It will reach beyond this limitation.

I used the free version before promotion to the code of the premium and it didnt help me much I used this because i feel it will work for me(considering that this is a free software)
According to me, active protection returnil should be used to check whether the free software works fine, I try a program, exe or something that I do not trust (which obviously allows free) ...

PS: I'll try the first version, if not more work for the code you uninstall and reinstall the free (valid)

As said softte, to use basic test as a file or run a Windows session without leaving traces, just try to use the free version in advance.
Also consider that many features of a pay version is available only in disk-cache, and then choose whether the memory-cache (the free version is only the latter mode) is as if you were actually using the free version.
