    Updating McAfee Virusscan Enterprise

I'm part of an IT dept. at a High School. We run Mcafee Virusscan enterprise (8.5i) on every system, and all but one work perfectly. The system in question is unable to update, it receives an error when trying to do so. I've looked up the error in the FAQ and tried both steps, but it didn't work. I tried removing Mcafee completely using the removal tool, and then reinstalling, but even that doesn't work as I get an error during install notifying me that it cannot run Mcafee Framework service (I do have sufficient rights).

The OS used is Windows XP Pro.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

For troubleshooting purposes try disabling any firewalls you use, including Windows firewall or other software AV, Spyware protection, etc.

What's the exact error while running update from Mcafee Update Manager?
i know the machine is new, but now-a-days most of the new machines come with preinstalled AV programs, was this one also having any AV software before? like may be Norton which you uninstalled to install Mcafee?

Does anyone know what I could do to get it to update? Any help is appreciated.. Thanks.

How to Update McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
    1. Look in the system tray in the bottom right corner of your Windows screen.
    2. If you have McAfee VirusScan Enterprise installed, you will see a red, white, and blue shield.

    3. Point the cursor at the shield icon and single click the right mouse button.
    4. A pop-up menu should appear. From this menu select, Update Now.

    5. The autoupdate window will appear. Please wait until the update is completed. The autoupdate window will close after the update is finished.
