How to use ClamAV to monitor Thunderbird

I use ClamAV to monitor my mails and things that I download. I'm on a low-speed connection and I work with Debian and a gateway firewall in my small house.

I would like to know how to monitor by ClamAV which automatically enters Thunderbird each time I note the mail with this e-mail software.

I installed ClamAV from sources in order to update with the latest version on a Sarge. And I did enable-milter when setting up the compilation. I understand that some milter works with software based on sendmail or postfix. Yes, but how I do with thunderbird?

One thing that I do not understand about your configuration: What does that mean "with Debian and a gateway firewall" ?

I call the gateway machine that is plugged into an Internet connection PPP.
It is part of a small network of three machines 192.168.1.0/24. It is one on which I receive my mail and I have installed antivirus and firewall.

The mail scanning is done easily by Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV) with AMaViS (A Mail Virus Scanner). You can also use ClamAV with the product called VScan to analyze the Samba file sharing.

The product, which could match, is rather P3Scan. This is a full-transparent proxy-server for email clients. It is designed to enable scanning of incoming/outgoing email messages for Virus's, Worms, Trojans, Spams, and harmful attachments. It is a "proxy pop" which falls between a client and a POP3 server. It allows the use of clamav, which is described on the site of memory.
