Win XP ignores the connection data

    Hello to all
So that am looking for a needle in a haystack, maybe someone I can route towards a possible solution.

I have a router Digicom wifi (michelangelo wave or something like that .. I try and information if needed .. however I have already updated firmware) where with the cable network is connected to PC Windows XP sp3, a PC VISTA sp1, and a NAS units of magnex that use as hard disk network, both PCs use the network card integrated into the motherboard.

The router is dhcp enabled and the classic address 192.168.1.254, is connected all'adsl home and wifi network is empowered because from time to time I will connect with the Psp.

All two PCs are configured to ask the dhcp ip to the router, and what has always worked from 3 years to this part, now describe the problem:
While in PC with Vista everything continues to go proper by a month or so Windows XP can not connect to the router 1 time in 10, I tried to change cable, cable position on the router, unplug the NAS and Vista, so the problem is between XP and the router.

The reason for this is that instead of connecting to 192.168.1.254 gateway to ask the IP address to use, the PC connects (when it happens always use them) to IP and Gateway 169.254.122.46 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0.
I can not Maze on the router since these addresses are not set anywhere, are not part of any configuration known on XP, so just that sometimes when you connect to those, and then unnecessarily, and the router then fails to provide the ip to use.

Even setting up a connection with a static address works for 1 day or 2 and then of a sudden start and XP claims to connect using diff parameters.

In the meantime, I disabled the network card and I connected via wifi stick, but I just put on since yesterday and not so if the problem will recur.
Someone has ever heard of such a thing?

The address will give you is that classic when a PC has the dhcp active but does not detect a dhcp server in the network, by default takes that IP range.
So your problem is that the PC windows xp fails to detect the dhcp / take an address from the DHCP router.

Solution: put a fixed address to PC windows xp and as already said fix also NAS and Vista, 3 PC with the dhcp seem exaggerated.
    192.168.1.1 for XP
    192.168.1.2 for VISTA
    192.168.1.3 for NAS
    192.168.1.254 for routers

If looks between departments at startup you have the dhcp client. If correcting this problem (to activate) will not solve. Make a past of winsockxpfix

If that does not solve, IP fix is the way. Even if I find that the PC that seems to be affected by some viruses.

The problem as I had already written shows even if I put IP fixed (ip, gateways, servers, dns and subnet mask all fixed) when it happens it simply tells me that are not connected to anything and the router effects not listed in devices when connected

However to say, it will be good to format your XP. Its seems to be affected with viruses. And i love format in such cases.

Eheh but you see I am against the 'unsolved mysteries' and then I could also reformat Xp (even if the installation is still only 3 months), however, I did a full scan with Avast antivirus (which already runs in real time) and that scan anti malware with Ad Aware and the system was clean.

Another thing, from 5 days without connection with the cable network but with the stick wifi when the problem has not manifested.

Whether the card's network that is fixed by pulling the last? Try a new network card and see if it solves the problem, perhaps the first to format can solve everything.

Well for lack of time, will be 2 weeks now that the PC with Xp travels through the key wifi and the problem has never been more manifested.
The network adapter is integrated into the motherboard, the limit is almost gone if I can put it, but this is to see after formatting

Points of view: if you have xp, drivers and 3 programs to install and accounts 1 hour of work we can also stay, if you have 20 programs to install, update online, activate, reconfigure, save and restore backups, etc. and accounts have to missed 2 days integers the system to serve as perhaps you prefer to spend on the network card BEFORE format.
