    Convert g router to a or b

I am using Linksys WRT54G router. As the name suggest it is a "g" technology router. But my xbox needs either "a" or "b" technology router (according to the manual). So what I want to ask it is it possible to convert my "g" router to "a" or "b" router? Or I would need to purchase the new router?

No doubt your router has the feature where you can use your router either in B mode, or G mode or Mixed mode (both B and G). So I think you can go with your current router and set it as per your need.

Strange but I am also having Linksys router (WRT300N) and XBOX 360 and it works very well. Never faced any issues as you said.

Yeah this is true because WRT54G router is basically a "g" technology router but as the specification specified, it also has the backward compatibility. So you don't need to buy a new router. Depending on the nic card on your xbox, you can set your router and use it without any problem.
