    lost outlook express inbox messages

I need some urgent help from you all. I’m using Outlook Express on Windows XP SP3 with Office 2003. My outlook inbox size was very large because I haven’t deleted any emails since long time. Until yesterday everything was fine but today morning when I started the system I noticed that several emails from my inbox are missing. I dint deleted any email.

When I checked inbox.dbx file the size seems to fine, it is yet too large but where the emails gone? I even tried searching the mails in inbox.dbx file but they too don’t have them. Can anyone please tell me how can I get my lost email back? Many thanks.

As you said the size of inbox still seems to be large and fine, I guess your emails might have got hidden due to some settings changes. Just go to View, click Current view and select View all. See if it brings back your lost email.

    Let me know the results.

If everything else fails if you cannot find your messages back, have a look at Foxtract.
This tool scans your corrupted dbx file and will extract your e-mails, even if the trees are corrupted (Outlook Express uses tree structures to retrieve the messages).

This tool is free, GPL licensed, the source code is freely available.
