Can anyone explain "Catastrophic Failure" in MS-Word / Outlook?

I have installed Microsoft Office 2003 under Vision and it was working fine for a couple of weeks, but after that I have started getting hangs in Outlook and also get some message that states "Catastrophic Failure" in Microsoft Word. Apart from this I am not getting any other error message. Can anyone please tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks.

There are many people who are getting this error lately. A fix for this maybe to update the Java version that you are using. You can download Java for all operating systems from here - http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

This problem can occur due to one of the Symantec antivirus applications. Incase you have a Symantec Antivirus program installed, then uninstall it and then reinstall it again without the mail scanning feature. There is nothing to worry about the protection from the antivirus program, and it will not interfere with Outlook.
