Office 2007 Envelope address prints jibberish

Newly installed Office 2007. All documents (word, excel, etc) print OK and
print test OK. When create Word letter and use the Envelope function to
print the address it comes out junk symbols and numbers. The junk symbols
are printed in the correct locations where the return and addressee should be
on the envelope. Went to HP site and checked drivers and got updates, etc.
All updates for Office 2007 installed. Any suggestions?

Start Word. Click the Mailings Tab, Click Envelopes in the Create bar, click
Options in window that opens. Click Font button for Delivery Address. What
font is showing? If not Arial, try putting Arial there, click Default in
lower left and then OK and see if that fixes the delivery address. Do the
same for Font under Return Address for the return address area. Remember
you have to click Default after selecting the font desired.

When you have the Envelope Options window showing you should click the
Printing Options tab. You should see your default printer showing on the
    line immediately above feed options.

Let us know if this solves your problems.

    How to make default perm

The suggestion works for me, sort of...

Each time I go start a new envelope the font is wrong. I try to make arial the default font and save it, and it appears to work . untill I start a new envelope, the font is off and jibberish returns unless I re-select a font.

How can I make the default selection permanant?

RE: Office 2007 Envelope address prints jibberish

I'm having the same problem with several users. Some have set the default
and now their envelopes are printing fine. A couple have to set the default
each time they print the envelopes. Any fixes?

    Hello,
I'm having the same problem. I did as you instructed and now my jibberish
prints in Arial! Do you think it might be the driver? I have an HP printer.

The problem seems to be only when a letter is created in a previous
version of word and has been opened up in Word 2007. Even if I show
the users how to save the default as Times New Roman for envelopes it
reverts back the next time the letter is opened. My only solution so
far is to copy and paste the original letter into a 2007 document and
everything is then OK. It is clearly a Microsoft problem as the
formating in the background is getting screwed up during the
    conversion process.
