office 2007: freezes, can't install, hangs, eats up ram

I am using Windows XP with Service Pack 3 on a Pentium 3 machine. I recently download the Office student trial version from Microsoft website. If I am clickingto install, then nothing happens. The installation will not open, it will just freeze. The free ram slowly drops until its almost at zero. I have turned off Firewall and virus program and my computer meets up with the minimum system requirements in ram and processor? So I dont know what could be the other issue? Can anyone help me out? Did you try to run Office Diagnostics by going into Start >> Programs >> Microsoft Office >> Office Tools already? If that isnt working, then try to repair the installation through Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs.

Thanks for the replies, but I am not able to install the software. The problem starts when I am trying to install. I am not able to access it in Control Panel because its not installed and the same applies for Start >> Program.. I would try to delete the trial and try to redownload it again. If this time again I am not able to install it then I will move to some other software.

It seems to me that something might have gone wrong at the time of setup. Can you try to deactivate any kind of antivirus software installed in your computer and then try to run the Office setup again and see if this time the intallation starts.
