"The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open" Word 2003

I am using Microsoft Office 2003 on my system. It is working nice. I had just re-installed this some months ago. But now whenever I try to open a document I am getting a weird error on the screen saying that the command cannot be performance due to some dialogue box. I cannot find any dialog open. I am using AVG on my system. Before there was Norton. I found on web that Norton can be cause of the issue. But I had removed so it must be working fine. How to fix this.

It look some application on the background is working. You have to ensure that everything is completely turned off. Or else this issue will not be resolved. The most easy fix according to me is to run a repair setup of Office 2003. Just run the same and you will be able to get rid of the error.

I think you can get a more valid reason in the link below. That will offer you a more proper detail to work on the issue that you are facing. The issue can be due to a corrupt Word Template. You have to create a new one or get rid of the old one. Just check in Startup nothing is configured to use Word.

You receive a "The command cannot be performed" error message when you double-click to open a document in Word 2007 or in Word 2003
