excel 2007 problem

There is some issues with Excel 2007 that I am having. When I try to open an Excel Sheet and then close Excel the normal way then everything seems to be fine, but if I re-open excel again and try to close it the normal way then nothing happens. If I click on the X in the corner, then Excel will close. I have already done a repair install to solve this issue but to no avail. I also tried different programs in the Office 2007 pro to check if the other parts are effected but they are not. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks

I think that the normal way would be to click on the superdized Office button at the top-left of the Excel application window and then click on the exit button. Also, does the alt+F4 key combination close Excel when you are not able to close it the normal way? There were some article about Excel not closing when there are connections to COM add-ins, so did you make sure that you are not using any add-ins?

Thanks for the reply, I have checked that the Alt+F4 is working fine without any issues. Anyways I have posted this same question on different forums, so lets see what all answers can I gather.

actually the 'close' means close the current document. There is another button named 'exit' which does what it means.

try it again. it is one of these new tricks in the 2007 version, without any clue of what it is good for...
