What Happened to Microsoft Document Imaging in 2007?

I was quiet happy after Office 2007 upgrade. The upgrade was fine. There was no issue with that. But I found that there were many things missing in Office 2007. First thing that I do not found is Microsoft Document Imaging. I do not understand why Microsoft has removed it. I hope there will be some way to get that back or some kind of similar application that can provide me the same kind of features. Does anyone know.

It is available. It can be optional component. You can run the setup once again and this time you can click on Customize installation. In that just ensure that you had selected Microsoft Document Imaging. Then run the setup and it will be fixed. The installation will go properly. There will be no issue with the same. Office Imaging lies basically under Tools in Microsoft Office folder.

Microsoft Document Imaging (mdi) in Office 2007 does not allow import of files.
    How to rectify this?

Have you tried to insert the file or drag and drop the MDI file into a OneNote page to view it instantly. Or try the permanent solution, by installing Microsoft Document Imaging Writer and its corresponding support for the file format.

    • First of all you have to go to Control Panel, select “Uninstall a program” link under Programs section.”
    • After that highlight Microsoft Office 2007 (it may show Ultimate, Enterprise, Professional, Small Business, Home and Student, etc).
    • Next, you have to click on “Change” located on the navigation link near the top of the window.
    • After that select “Add or Remove Features”, then click “Continue”.
    • Then you will have to expand “Office Tools” section.
    • Just click on the drop down list for “Microsoft Office Document Imaging” and select “Run all from My Computer”.
    • Click “Continue” and then click “Close” when installation done.
