Help with Right to Left Formatted forms Word 2007

I have a form that looks normal

    Middle Initial First Last Name

but each field is formatted right to left.

How do I change the fields to type left to right? I am in word 2007 and under View there is no option for toolbars to turn on a formatting toolbar as the online help says to check.

I think that you have to adjust the Global Text Direction.

In order to do this, you need to be using a version of Windows that has right-to-left support. You would first need to enable the language in Windows, then in Word.

    Basic outline of steps involved:
    1. Install Word
    2. Configure Microsoft Windows to type in multiple languages
    3. Install the Microsoft Office Proofing Tools
    4. Configure the Microsoft Office Language Settings
    5. Set Word to automatically detect the language

More information can be found here.

    Figured it out:

    - Go to Work Options -> Customize -> Selet Home tab
    - Bring left to Right and right to left Text Direction controls over

Anybody knows how this works in MS Office/Word 2011 for Mac?

I can't find the menu items in the solution given above for Word 2007.

I have suddenly old Word documents in English that are aligned to the right, with bullets at the right, tabs with arrows pointing to the left, and paragraph marks on the left of the sentences. The text reads in normal English.

I never made any changes. My Word documents appear normal, except a whole bunch of Word documents dating back to 2007. I opened these before (a few months ago): no problem.

    But now.....?!?

I think that you can use smart tags when you cut and paste, select styles from the toolbar, search and replace formats, and even pick up and copy styles you like with the Format Painter. But if all you want to do is clear all unwanted formatting from a selection or entire Word document, there's a faster and easier way. Just select the text you want to scrub and then click the Clear Formatting button in the top right corner of the Font section on the Home tab. For more information visit this site.

My problem is not changing or erasing formats.

The problem is changing the sudden right-to-left layout of my document without making other changes. There must be a way. For Word for Windows Microsoft has a solution on their website, but no help for Mac users.

BTW, I tried what you recommend on a copy: all formats were erased, regretfully also my text boxes and tabs, but the layout was still right-to-left.

    So, I'm still stuck?!?
