Microsoft Word 2007 is not giving spelling suggestions

Hello,

Newbie to this forum. I did an exhaustive search on the internet and couldn't even find this exact problem. My son has Word 2007 installed on his laptop running Windows 7 ("home" edition). His spell check works (catches errors) but doesn't offer corrections. For instance, he typed "approximentally" and it didn't give any suggestions at all. Mine gave the correct "approximately". I checked all of his settings and couldn't find anything obvious. It's like it doesn't have the "standard" dictionary. I tried searching to find where this was located to no avail.

Any suggestions?

It looks like the Office 2007 has disabled the English dictionary and for that reason it is not able to provide the spelling suggestion to you. If you wish to turn that on again then you can go to Microsoft Office Button> Word Options> Ad Ins> Manage (choose disabled items)> Click on the English dictionary and re-enable it. Once you are done with that then you will have to restart word and you will get that beck to working.
