KMS in "Office Standard 2010 Key Management Service Host" stands for "Key Management Service". Previously product key was used for deploying Microsoft Office 2007 and older versions. However, with the help of Key Management Service, you don't have to use product key for deploying Office 2010. This is because, all volume license editions of Office 2010 have a KMS client key preinstalled.
