    Deactivating Product Key

I was using a laptop that has started to die after less than 3 years. However, it will still work well enough to get into it, but its not reliable enough to be usable. My question is that I had put the full MS Office Small Business version on that laptop and 2 other computers as well. So, can anyone tell me if there is a workaround to deactivate that product key so that I can use the third valid key on the new computer? Thanks.

Well, if you have 3 licenses, then you can simply uninstall it from the dying laptop and then install it on the replaced or new computer.

I think that Small Business 2003 or 2007 retail only allows one machine as a primary and a second portable machine for the exclusive use of the primary user of the primary machine. So, if you have a volume license then that will not apply. Incase the license allows it, then just install onto the new machien and let the old one die. I dont think there is any method for deactivation at all.

LVTravel makes a great point, without knowing if you’re a multi-licensed user, this is a hard question to answer. You might want to take a look at the Technical Support Page on the Microsoft Small Business Center to check out the portability of your specific product.
