Starting Office application delayed every time by Windows configur

When ever I open Microsoft Word, Excel, or Powerpoint then I get a message that states "Preparing to install..." and then to "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007". A progress bar moves back and forth three times, and then the Office application opens. At some point, UAC is triggered right before the application opens. This is very annoying and it really slows down my day. This thing never used to happen on Windows XP SP3. The setup that I am using is Windows 7 fresh install which is running on Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB ram and plenty of hard drive space free. This pc is not part of the domain and the user is an Admin as well. Office version is 12, with SP2 installed. I am getting the below application warnings:

Starting Office application delayed every time by Windows configuration

You can try to solve the setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions. More information is given on this website - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/arc...04/739820.aspx

Re: Starting Office application delayed every time by Windowsconfigur

So I tried using the SubInACL tool and it seems to have repaired permissions to a bunch of registry keys, but I am still having some issue. Actually, the errors that I am getting on the Event log does not tell me a problem with the registry key permissions. But it seems that the issue describes the SubInACL page -- setup errors, which is different from what I am getting. Any ideas?

Re: Starting Office application delayed every time by Windows configuration

I made a .bat file with a bunch of SubInACL commands, per this page:

I ran the bat file, and it seemed to work fine, but afterward the problem still occurred with Word 2007. Excel & Outlook were fine, however, and I think Excel had the problem before I ran the .bat file (though I'm not 100% sure of that).

So I uninstalled Office, deleted C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office, and then reinstalled Office 2007.

    Now it works fine.

I don't know whether the uninstall/reinstall would have fixed it without running the SubInACL commands.
