how do I open a odt file sent by email as attachhment.

I need some help here to open a odt file in Microsoft Office. Someone has sent me that through mail and I am not able to find out how to view that in Office. I had tried using Word but that did not worked well. I am not having any application related to that. Will it open in notepad. I had not tried the same yet. To which application does this files belongs. Is there any online viewer available for the same.

The format belongs to openoffice. I think it will open in Notepad. You can also try Wordpad. But formatting will be affected. You can download a odt viewer from the web and use it for checking the content of the file. The viewer also allow you to save the same file in html format from where you can extract its content. Right click on the file and choose Open With. From that select Notepad or Wordpad.
