Double click to open Excel/Word files

I am using Microsoft Office 2003. I was using this from long time. I had upgraded to Office 2007. Now it is common that when you double click on any Word and Excel file it opens by default in the application. While it is not working in my pc. When I double click on any Excel and Word file it is not working. There is no response on the screen. It looks my system is not able to identify the installed application. I am not aware of any settings to fix the same.

It looks there is some problem with program access default. Even if you double click on the file you must get a open with box from where you can simply select the default application to launch. You have to go in Control Panel and you can search for Program Access Defaults. In that assign the default application based on file extension and save the settings. Then restart your pc and check back.

    Thanks a lot BOB,

Your solution of disabling DDE option worked for me:-)
