Remove older copies of Office before installing 2007?

My cousin recently bought a new Acer Aspire laptop which came with Office Trial edition pre-loaded. We have now bought a Disc of Office Professional 2007 from Microsoft with Product key. Before installing I wanted to ask whether we need to first uninstall all trials or other office suites before installing the new one or we can simply install this to overwrite them?

If you are having any Trail version already installed then you must remove it before install the purchased one. And if you have Older version installed , I mean Office 2003, then you can start the new installation directly without removing older suite. This will keep both office editions on your same PC. You will be able to use any of them. However during installation you will be asked to replace or not, you can choose anything at this stage.

Hello Leythose, Can you clarify whether you have a Trial version Office and another version of Office installed??? And now you want to install Office 2007

That’s a good question Jolie. Let me explain in details. Here are things I have on my PC:

• I have Word 2002 from MS Works
• PowerPoint and Excel from Office 97
• 60 day trial for Office 2007

These 3 versions are already running on my system and now I bought Office 2007 Professional. What should I do now? DO I need to remove all those previous versions or can I directly start my new installation?

Out of those three suites, 60 day trial is must to be removed before you install Off2007 Pro. You can leave rest two but it would be better if you will remove Word 2002 as well to avoid any problems later after installation. PowerPoint and Excel from Office 97 is okay to be left.
