neo2 had some boards where the northbridge heatsink did not have any thermal paste or thermal pad causing it to get too hot.. please check that while buying otherwise use some of your own tp

other issues check the sticky on 939 boards and click the link in post #1

well in my books MSI K8N neo 2 has some major flaws.
    1. its not compatiable Corsair and Kingston PC3200. THis is huge issue for indian market when kingston is very popular. people have reported that this board wont even allow installing windows with these chips used on this board.
    2. AMD cool n Quiet dosent work correctly on this board. Latest bios solved this for some but not for all.
3.If you are installing cards of GF6 series then removing them is big pain, real big pain. The chipset cooler is round and its blocks access to the lock clip from down.

These are not my conclusions, this is what many people complained about in forums like AT and guru3d.

And K8T800pro still performs on par and even better in most cases than NF3 Ultra chipset.
    Have a look .

and other pages of same review.

Thats why i recommand ASUS A8V over MSI K8N neo 2.
    Hell I will even recommand MSI K8T neo2 over K8n neo2.

@senfunn :: The difference in performance between a equal speed CPU of Skt 754 & 939 is 5-10%. the Crux of the Athlon64 performance leap comes from the Integrated Memory Controller;which btw is present on both type of CPUs !!!the best combo to buy wud b something lik:

    1. Athlon 64 2800+
    2. Asus K8V-X - COMBO OFFER AT 10650/-
    3. Phillips 17" CRT 5300 ordinary , no flat
    4. 80GB 3300 SATA HDD samsung /Seagate
    5. Lite-on DVD -ROM
    or a combo 1700 black
    6.*Original* 1*512Mb HYNIX DDR400 RAM
    7. Logitech value optical mouse black/PS2(Rs 400)+ Easy Keyboard(black)Rs 275+TAX
    8. Zebronics Lava Cabinet 400W-looks very good & has 2 Extra Case fans+LED temp display in Front-1400/-
    9.speakers 3300 (ATP3)
    10.UPS 1000 ??
    Even a cheap Microtek 600VA costs 2k,&Wipro Emerge600VA costs 3k!!

Stock performance of the Socket 754 will be better. The 939 will overclock better. (Unless u get a really good CG stepping clawhammer. Mine does 2.6GHz). The 939 is a better bet for upgradability as AMD will not release any more skt 754 athlon 64 chips.

That is one hell of a mobo for that price... I got it for a few days b4 i got my deluxe. The only things missing are the gigabit lan, the SI SATA controller and firewire. For 5.5K or so its an awesome deal. Overclocks like crazy. I reached 2.5GHz on it with a C0 stepping 3000+ newcastle which are supposed to be bad overclockers

    amd or intel?????

guys last time i had made my mind for A64 but still i'm thinking the reason
being prices.First of all can n e 1 tell me how does A64 perform ??What i mean
is does it not play VIDEO WELL?or does it takes more time for software installation or can it not play games and video at same time???PLZ HELP

the other factor being of prices. When i last checked these were the prices of
    various processors

    AMD ATHLON64 3200+ s939 -12400/-
    Asus A8V mobo -8750/-
    Intel 3.06GHZ (Grantsdale)+ASUS p5gd mobo -14300/-
LG LCD FLAT MONITOR 17inch -15000/-
    17" CRT -6100/-
    256 MB DDR RAM-1900/-
    Geforce MX4000 -2500/(approx.)

As u can C i will be able to get intel config with LCD monitor for 30000/-
and amd config for 36000 that's 6000 extra than intel
What i require is the computer must be fast ,must be good for Games, audio, video.I mean while writing CD/DVD i must be able to any other
    work smoothly

the whole cpu combo (excluding CRT).tell me one thing how does u r config
perform as compared to intel 3.0 HT .I'm still waiting for amd prices to fall

Get the AMD config. The intel one will suck for games especially with the onboard crap. Get a single stick of 512MB. The AMD 754 chips are single channel. Get a liteon DVD ROM and not a samsung.
