Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 usb 3.0 driver update

I am using an Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 mobo and running Windows 8 operating system on it. I have found out that the ASMedia USB Controllers used for the usb 3.0 ports have some driver related issues after upgading to the Windows 8.1 OS. So, before doing the OS update, I was wondering if there is any working drivers that I need to install. I have checked the Asus website for the latest usb 3.0 driver but it seems to be the same which is already installed in my pc? So, is there any solution for this problem? Thanks

First of all, I will suggest you to update the latest BIOS for your motherboard first because it might be including all the firmware update files for the Asmedia USB controllers. But I think that this controller chips firmware might be needing a different firmware update procedure other than the motherboard bios. You can go this link and search for the Asmedia driver for usb 3.0 port. Hope this will help you out.

I dont think there is any issue with the Asmedia drivers but the problem is with the Intel Controller drivers instead and with that Series 8 motherboards. The main problem is that Windows 8.1 doesnt properly keep the Intel USB3 drivers installed because it requires the generic Microsoft drivers to use instead which makes it not compatible. So, the ASmedia ports gets affected because of the incompatibility of the Intel ports.

I am also betting that you will need to download and install the latest version of the BIOS for your Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard which will solve the usb 3.0 issue for sure. Just remember to drop the .cap/ .rom file onto a usb drive. After that go into your BIOS and then go to the Flash BIOS option. Now you just have to choose the usb drive that contains the new bios file on it and click on install. Just ensure not to interrupt the flashing process or you might have a bricked motherboard.
