Intel Core i7-4770K vs Core i7-4770

I am looking to buy a new computer for gaming, home theater, some programming, etc. I am also having the GTX 700 series graphics card that would suit for my purpose. I am looking to buy a CPU that will fit in my case, everything else if ready. I was wondering if I buy the Intel Core i7-4770 processor that will it meet with all of my requirements or should I go with the Core i7-4770K which is not too costly over the previous one? Is there any major performance difference between this 2 CPUs? Thanks for answering.

Well, everything depends on if you need the lower power consumption or not. If you want then you can also underclock the Intel Core i7-4770K to lower the power consumption since it is a more versatile chip because of the unlocked multiplier. If you want to go with the regular Intel Core i7-4770 processor then you can even expect a little difference in its cheaper price compared to the K processors. At idle you will see no difference between the 2 processors.

Re: Intel Core i7-4770K vs Core i7-4770

The performance difference between both the processor that you have mentioned has hardly 100mhz and nothing more. The 4770 processor is an unlocked CPU but it doesnt have a good overclocking figure compared to the Core i7-4770k processor. So, I suggest that you get the i7-4770 CPU that will work with any program that you want to perform and you wont be facing any problem with the performance of the CPU and you can use it for what you want for.

Re: Intel Core i7-4770K vs Core i7-4770

If you are not planning to overclock the CPU then I will suggest you to go with the Intel Core i7-4770 if there is a huge difference of 100$. You will get all your jobs done with the 4770 CPU without any problems, but if you intend to overclock then this is one area where it lacks behind. The main difference between both the CPU is that the 4770k is unlocked, which means, you can overclock it as much as you like and it will also increase the performance of your system.
