    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor compatible with ASUS M2N-X

My system is configured on the ASUS M2N-X motherboard. I have installed the AMD Sempron. I know that it is not the faster processor but I had to choose this due to my limited budget option. But now I would like to install a new AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor on it. NewEgg says this processor is out of stock and there is limited chance of get restocked. So I don’t have much time to wait for it to get restocked. Luckily I have got AMD Athlon 64 X2 from my fried and he sold me the process for half price. Now the problem I don’t know whether my motherboard is compatible for this processor or not. The product page shows as AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor but there is no full description about the compatibility. What you think?

AS far as I know that the ASUS M2N-X motherboard supports several AMD family processors and they are
    • Athlon 64 X2,
    • Athlon 64,
    • Sempron,
    • Athlon 64 FX

I have seen a list of all compatible processors and on this motherboard and I have found the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor listed there also. But if you have a ASUS M2N-MX SE motherboard then there could be a problem with compatibility of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (89W). Most of the reviews says that these processors are not completely compatible with that motherboard.

By the way, what version of BIOS you are currently running?

Go through the release notes of that BIOS version and see what compatibility things or fixes included there. If you find compatibility in different version BIOS, you could need to re-flash the BIOS as well.
