Is it possible to install PCI 4x card on MSI 790FX-GD70 motherboard PCI 16x slots in order to get USB 3.0 connectors. I never tried it, just asking If it possible. I will not gonna buy unless I am sure about it.

The e new standards do not supports chipset, here they are provided by additional chip that is connected via PCIe. As you can also buy the same one plug-in card, does not make much difference.
The PCI Express specification requires that PCI-Express x1 card in x4, x8 or x16 to work slots. Optionally, x4 cards in x8 and x16 slots or x8 cards in x16 slots work, but this is not mandatory. It also depends on the particular motherboard's BIOS, if a RAID host adapter actually works for a graphics card slot provided - but mostly it goes. Another thing is the distribution of the PCIe lanes on the various PCI slots: In some motherboards with 2 PEG slots, the 2nd slot is inoperable, while others represent the combinations of x16 / x1 or x8/x8. Some chipsets have so many PCIe lanes that both slots are always connected with a full 16 lanes; sometimes there are also the fixed wiring x16/x4.
After some searching I came across this MSI PCIe 1x card for my Asus P5Q motherboard, which unfortunately only offers a free PCIE 1x. There are also many cheaper USB 3.0 cards, but they usually only use 2x PCI slots or higher. Amazon delivered as usual the next day with Hermes and I was able to install the MSI Star solution quickly. Provided next to the card is for optional use USB power cable, quick start guide and a driver CD.
