    If a single core processor gives 1.60 ghz then does it mean dual core will give 2x1.60 GHz?

    Hello friends, i wanted to know if you are having a single core processor which is of 1.60ghz then does the dual core is 2x1.60GHz, so i am having bit confusion about it, i am not getting it clear can you people tell and help me out about it. Thank you.

    It is not like that, it will be like that any one program will be getting the 1.6Ghz at best, whereas the windows uses some part of the other core for some owrk only, but it sure that one program will be using one whole core, which means that one application is been running at 1.60GHz.

    If you wanted to know about the frequency of core, then you are correct. If you are having Dual core then it means you are running 2 cores at the frequency of 1.60 ghz, such that having 2x1.6 then you will begetting 3.2 ghz of processing power.

    It is not like that, it is very much nice then having a 1 core processor as it is having the power to handle multiple tasks without slowing down the system. You will not get difference in the speed, it will be the same.
