Is it possible to upgrade Acer Aspire 5102WLMi notebook from TL50 to TL68

I got Acer Aspire 5102WLMi notebook and it has 2x AMD TL50 processors and an 800Mhz FSB . its I cool running perfectly well however I want to upgrade ny motherboard with the faster CPU that is available which can be fit in the S1 socket . I have read somewhere that it is a S1G1 socket though I don’t understand what does that means . I knoq that TL68 will fit to the S1 socket and it is the fastest in Turion Mobile Processor family atleast that what I heard. Also I need to overclock my new TL 68 processer after installing or dose its internal multiplier that will take care of this and the most important thing is where I can find them I can’t find them any where

That is one great upgrade that you are doing but I think there is some couple of compatibility issue that I am aware of first is The TL50 is 90nm and the TL68 is 65nm. I study someplace that there might be BIOS compatibility problem. I guess this would only be right if there's a difference in how these devices are initialized or may be I am missing something and the second issue is 90nm processors need 3.0 - 3.5vdc input and 65nm processors want 2.5 - 3.5vdc input. Since the necessities for the 90nm processors are more limiting, so I think there won’t be any problem in it

I think there will be some issue regarding upgrade since I am also faced some problem while performing the update I have ACER AS5050 I had problem in changing my TL-50 to TL58. I think the only reason that had avoided this upgrade may be the original is 90nm and the TL58 has 65nm so I guess my laptop ACER AS5050 is not made for that kind of technology. I don’t know about yours but I guess it will not that different either please post the success if any you have achieve and what measure you have taken

i did not had any issue with the upgardation . i have Acer aspire note book and i have updated my processor to TL64 form TL50 without any issue . By doing thisI have increased the L1 and L2 side of the processor and my processor speed . the processor I install is100Gb 7200rpm PATA hard drive, and 4GB Duel Channel RAM (5300).this all contributed the speed of my laptop and trust me its awesome .Now I can use my laptop for everything and it’s never shows the sign of dullness in any form whether I use it for video editing or for picture editing I am using window Xp pro on my laptop

I have also done the same update that you have done I have one point of interest here that under load the 2.2mz processor ran 5F to 10F deg. cooler than the 1.6Mz processor an on ideal it was about same I think the 2.2Mz processor is much faster to finish it task than 1.6Mz. Or maybe I am using the better cooling component for my new processor I only know that I am very much happy with whatever I have achieved I think it is same to update your Acer laptop
