which processor is good for Gaming.

Hello friends, I am having a computer that I use only for purpose of work. I am totally game freak and love to play computer games. I want to build a computer strictly for gaming purpose but I am bit confused regarding the hardware specification. Should I go for Intel core i7-970 Gulftown 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Six-Core or Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache. What about Quad Core and get a 3rd 6970 card for Tri-Fire, should I get it. What do you guys think. Which one would better. Please help me to select the appropriate one.

Hey, good to hear that. I am also crazy about games and I do have one different PC especially for gaming purpose. As per my opinion you should get the 2500k CPU. It has the newer platform and delivers excellent performance while gaming. I can say that it is made especially for gaming purpose. Its cost is also less which would fit your budget. You will get great performance at great price. Trust me , I am saying you all this because I am presently using it in my computer and had experienced its performance. It makes gaming faster and better.

Yes my friend you are right. 2500k cpu is not only good performance wise but also designed smartly. You will find that it has lower voltage leakage than the cpu you have mentioned I your post. So that you can get close to 5GHz. Well if you don’t like 2500k then you can get 2600k cpu. The 2600k cpu has a stronger IMC as compared to others. Due to this it has ability to run, rated over 2000mhz if overclocked. But 2500k will stop if overclocking occurs. So if you liked the features of 2500k then you can go for it.

There is a difference between the overclocking of 2500k and 2600k. Since 2600k has got hyper threading feature, it is useless for gaming. If you are willing to spend £ 100 more to avail the feature of hyper threading then you can go for 2600k, but remember that many of the games take minimal advantage of threading. So for gaming, you should use 2500k as you will observe very less difference with 2600k. I am using 2500k and most of the latest games like Dragon Age 2, Crysis2, Bulletstorm etc are running fine without any issue. Only the difference is the price of £100 that you have to spend .

Thank you guys for your suggestions and kind replies. Though I am very much excited, as I am going to build the new system especially for gaming. I was very much confused whether to go for 2500k or 2600k, but now I have decided that I will go with 2500k and save £100 that I am likely to spend in GPU. 2500k or 2600k, doesn’t make any difference. I am now aware of the fact that both can hit 5GHz easily. Again thank you all.
