Should I upgrade from Phenom II X3 720 to Phenom II X6 1090T

I am currently using a Phenom II X3 720 and that it is working at 3.6GHZ. But now I am not interested in working with it and hence I am looking for a change. For this I even checked some of the options which I feel would be good for me. So I thought that I should go for Phenom II X6 1090T as a replacement to the Phenom II X3 720.So what do you think of this switch. Is it fine or should I look for some other option. Please do reply to this query.

I had a look at your query and checked out a few options that would be handy for you. After looking out I would guess that the X4 945 at 3.6 would be almost as good but it maybe 10-15% slower than the 1090T that you are looking out for. But if you can’t use same Motherboard, ram then it's not worth it. If you can keep your old hardware, give it a shot- as a last CPU upgrade before Bulldozer. I am sure this will help you to fix your issue.

Even I had a similar issue and I basically did the same thing with my Q6600 and replaced it with a QX9650 at 3.6 GHZ. What I did was to basically skip all the iseries since the i7 chips are only around 20% better than what I have and hence it was not worth blowing a motherboard and ream away. So even I’ll agree with the previous solution that you should look out for X4 945 at 3.6 as it will be very beneficial for you.

I would completely differ from the previous solutions and would suggest you that you should go for it. I feel that you can put the Phenom II X6 1090T in an AM3+ board when it comes out and then put the x3 back in your current board. It will provide you with more power. Also I would like to ask you that what you do with your PC. Do you often play games or just use it for some other reason. But whatever it may be I guess that it is worth If you switch to Phenom II X6 1090T.

Yes even I would like to know what kind of games you play. If you play games like BC2 which utilizes as many cores as you give it then you do require a switch. Also now the games have started to become more multi threaded. However my suggestion is to get the 1090T since you can then easily upgrade to AM3+ for less upfront cost and then get just motherboard and then upgrade the CPU later. This is how you need to approach as far as I am concerned.

Thank you for your suggestions. I want through it and I feel that it has somewhat made my mind clear. I think that I need to go for Phenom II X6 1090T as it looks a better option as of now. Even I don’t agree much with the fact that I should go for X4 945 at 3.6 as I am not interested in it. So rather I would go for the Phenom II X6 1090T.I would once again like to thank you for your solutions and suggestions that you have provided me as they have helped me a lot.
