Fan speed is constant on MSI 870a-G54 + AMD Phenom II X4 965

For about 3-4 weeks, the speed of the CPU fan has auto, auto adjusted according to the temperature of the CPU, from 2800rpm to 5000rpm. Currently the fan speed is 3480rpm accurately most of the time, prior using the speed as the temperature was low. When you stress the CPU and as temperatures get higher, no change in the CPU fan speed. AMD Cool'n'Quite is enabled and has been all the time.

I do not think this is normal. Actually increases the rotation of the Fan only with increasing performance to the max! Even with my Zotac is this - which I hear little under load and idle not ever! Can it be that you may control software (zBSpeed fan, etc) and uses the fan the card may also be regulated. If not, you can control the fan speed via software, there are lots of software which can do this for you.

    I can say the following:

The Rev. 1 (1458.34C7), as the last BIOS version of the F3 and there is ALWAYS the fan to 65%. The temperature reached at idle in Windows about 45 ° C.

The Rev. 2 (1458.34CB) begins with the BIOS in version F4 (F3 is equal to the Rev. 1), as well with 65% fan.

But there is already the latest F11 BIOS controls the fan and then Windows mode driver control! At idle it runs at 5% and increases to just under load. But of course, the idle temp is slightly higher at around 50 ° C.

Who Rev. 2 has not so with the current BIOS, which should flash to F11. The BIOS there is only directly from the GA support.

I had installed on a fan connector for case fan a knob that controls the speed down my side of my two case fans something so they are quiet. When I removed it, was the display for the CPU speed constant again. I replaced the regulator against another, and lo and behold, the problem was fixed. Thus, this probably had a defect which has impacted negatively on the area of the mainboard, which is responsible for displaying the rotational speed of the fan.

From what you say, the speed varies with load, meaning that your fan is controlled, which is a good thing. Then you must know that there are programs like that Cpuidle "occuppent" processor with instructions which are less heat than the idle process windows and it works: I tested on an Athlon. Last but try to dust off your fan (spray air for dusting and vacuuming) and around your motherboard. Finally is what you have Ventilos to extract air from the case. Final point: look in the BIOS: it is often possible to place separate orders for the cpu fan.
