The video card you are about to install is almost the same as the 9800GT which will function fine with your present CPU. You can check and test for a few gaming benches with your processor , but I do not think hat it will come up with any sort of issue . the CPU will fit that GPU properly. If you wish to go over GTX465-580... then you will need to upgrade the CPU and RAM y. If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7 I will suggest you obtain another 2GB of RAM though.

Depends on what games you wish to play, but with XP the Operating system uses less memory. If you had Vista or 7 for example, the majority of games recommend 2-4GB so the Operating System memory space isn't paged to the hard drive. Check the requirement for the exact game you want to play. If it suggests 2GB as the minimum, then you should try to get another 1GB in there if your budget permits. This will permit Windows and your game use the memory more proficiently and not for all time page out the memory to the hard drive.

A GTS250 may be bottlenecked a bit by a modest 5400X2, but it just reliess on the resolution your using as to what the restricted access is going to be occur. Even there was an instance where my 3850 was bottlnecked by an Athlon 5200 X2 at stock speed, but then for that I had to I overclock that to 3.0 and it was all fine Anyway, if you're concerned about it, then overclock your CPU. Your resolve will automatically resolved.

If you run into any games needing more than 4GB (though unlikely right now), then you would require to install a 64 bit Operating System and install more memory if your board permits. But for the card you wish for, the RAM and Operating system you have, and your CPU , the majority current games will play all right at low-medium resolutions with middle to high on the textures. Do not anticipate to play Crysis or Far Cry 2 over 1280x720p with that CPU and GPU... If you need VERY high resolutions or texture feature, then it is time to upgrade the whole lot.

i have the same cpu AMD Athlon64 X2 5400+ with MSI K9N6PGM-F/FI, 2 GB RAM with an onboard video..I want to upgrade the video and i'd like to know what gpu will work fine for HD and to play the latest games at a medium quality. I was thinking between MSI N450GTS-MD1GD3 GeForce GTS 450 Core 700MHz Memory GDDR3 1800MHz 1GB or Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 Core 775MHz Memory GDDR3 4000MHz 1GB.

The MSI K9N6PGM-FI/F motherboard has One PCI Express x16 slot, so yes it is compatible with both the video cards that is either GeForce GTS 450 Core 700MHz Memory GDDR3 1800MHz 1GB or Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 Core 775MHz Memory GDDR3 4000MHz 1GB. Personally, I am big fan of ati video card so I would opt you to go for the ati one.

Yes, you will be able to play games on medium settings definately. Some games can determine the performance capability of your computer and adjust to that level as required. However, if you manually adjust the game settings to a level that your video card and your processor cannot handle, you will experience degraded performance of the game.
