HDD cannot be detected with GA-870-UD3

Hi all, I am having a brand new system and clean install on new HDD. I want to install Windows 7 in that and I am trying to use the official upgrade disk within optical drive for windows 7. The hard disk was working fine for the Vista upgrade. During installation, I selected the custom install and after a few minutes it shows me the message that there is no HDD found and it needs to install the driver. I tried to install that many times but all the times it was showing me the same message and installation cannot be completed. Can you tell me anything about this bug and also the way to solve the problem? Thank you.

It is possible that there is absence of the power to the HDD. Check for that and if that is the case then you can try to use some other connector on the similar cable and the BIOS. Give it a try and if that is due to no power on HDD then it will solve the issue and your system will detect the hard disc and you will be able to install the operating system that you want.

There may be loose connection of the HDD to the motherboard and that is why you are facing the problems like this. To confirm that, you need to disconnect the cable that makes the connection of the HDD to the motherboard and connect that again properly. If that does not solve the issue then you can also try to use some other cable and check by connecting that. You will easily get that cable on any computer hardware shop and it will also not cost you much.

The bootable operating system CD that you are using to install may be having problem in that. If that is not burned properly or some of the essential files from it are missing then it can create the problem like this. To confirm that, you need to burn a new CD and if possible then burn a different copy of the setup and try to install it from that. Two months back, I was also having somewhat similar problem and was not able to install the OS then finally when I tried a new CD then it did its work and it get installed without any trouble. I hope that this will do the same for you.

It is possible that the hard drive that you are using is corrupted and so it is not getting detected. If that is the case then no solution will work for you. Try to attach the same hard drive to some other computer and if it is showing you the same thing there also then it will make you sure that problem is with the hard drive that you are using. Once that is confirmed then the only option left for you is to take that to the dealer or the manufacturer if that is on warranty period and if that is out of warranty then you are bound to buy a new hard drive. Good Luck!!!!

Thank you very much to all of you for such a quick replies. It was the problem with the connecting cable. That was not providing the proper connection. Therefore I used a new connecting cable as suggested and now I am not facing any problem with that. So anyone over here, who is facing the similar problem can try this and see if this can do the same for you or not..
