    G.Skill PI Series DDR3-2300 CL8 kit 4GB

Thanks to Intel's current 1156 platform, a trend has developed into high-frequency memory. So the magic limit was one year ago still at DDR3-2000 memory kits from the market now offers DDR3-2300 and more. Each manufacturer courting the favor of customers and tries to throw Memory attractive as possible to the market. G. Skill offers the 4GiB DDR3-2300 kit, the PI Series with the streamlined latency of CL8-11-8-28. G. Skill delivers the Memory of the "PI Series" in a simple cardboard packaging. A sticker on the top indicates that the kit specifically for systems with Intel Core i7 processors 8x0 has been developed. This is because one of the most core i5 processors to memory can not fully extend, because a memory divider is missing (up to DDR3-1333). In Core i5 processors for the DDR3-2300 mode would be a BLCK of 230MHz - this is the least of processors create a 24 / 7 system. On the back of prints G. Skill from other small sticker containing the specifications for the Memory. The big sticker stands for the Memory and contains information on the power and latency. The two small stickers are available for the number of modules that are located in the package. Since this is a dual-channel kit, two stickers are stuck on. In a triple-channel kit would then, logically, located three stickers. The sticker for the modules contain not only information on the power and the latency and the serial number. The memory modules within the package fixed by a application so they do not slip and become damaged during shipping. Furthermore, the individual modules in an anti-static bags are packed.

The package contains two memory modules, a fitting memory cooler (the so-called "Turbulence Fan") that is being built in the state of the module terminals. Furthermore, a manual is included that explains the basis of some pictures, how to get the "Turbulence fan" installed.

Optical memory modules covered the "PI Series" immediately, which is not least the big heat spreader. With a height of 5.3 cm, the bars of the "PI Series" significantly higher than other memory modules and surpass even the "Dominator" by Corsair. The purpose of the large storage cooler is the cooling of the individual memory chips. In practice, the heat spreader but hardly heated, so that it would have done here, a small version of the cooler. As usual with G. Skill, have the memory modules of the "PI Series" on a green PCB. In the constructed state can be seen due to the large cooler but not much.

Hope that many might have got help from this post. More comments on this would be appreciable.

I too would like to discuss more about it. On either side, both modules have a sticker on which the specifications are printed. In addition to the cycle of buyers still find information on the latency and the required voltage. In the case of this pattern is in the kit DDR3-2300 mode (1.150MHz) with latencies of CL8-11-8-28. Thus, the memory bar at extreme overclocking experiments are cooled properly, G.Skill sets in a corresponding memory cooler. The "Fan Turbulence" can, after the memory modules are installed, simply attach to the memory banks. G. Skill is for the "Turbulence fan" at a speed of 3.200rpm a volume of 21.2 dB (A). In practice, the fans, however, with 38.8 dB (A) a little louder. A fan helps control here in terms of volume for assistance. Three blue SMDs illuminate the fans that we in the dark for a nice effect.

I am surprised that no-one has mentioned the specifications.!! The specifications include: The Memory consists of two bars, each with 2048MB. The kit is designed for Certified DDR3-2300 mode with latencies of CL8-11-8-28 and it requires a voltage of 1.65 V. However, G. Skill guarantees the high clock speed on Intel systems. The store also runs on AMD systems, but it can happen that the memory can not be fully extended. Continues to have the Memory of an XMP profile. This is somewhat flawed and is read incorrectly. After discussion with G. Skill, it seems probably a compatibility problem with the P55-UD7 to give of gigabytes.

When it comes to memory overclocking, Intel's Socket 1156 platform much more gorgeous than the 1366 platform. Nonetheless, some points should be considered. The innovative architecture of the processors are obtained for the Memory Overclocking totally new aspects. Since the memory controller from the motherboard to the CPU moved, you require now instead of a high-quality motherboard a good CPU. The culpability for low memory clock is now therefore no longer the main board, but to look at the CPU. Also has been the subject of "tensions" changed a lot. At the start of the Core i7 extend the rumor that the CPU may use a maximum of only 1.65 V as memory voltage. For the moment, has been shown that a higher voltage is quite probable. As a higher voltage effect in the long run is not exactly known. However, there is such a warning is not without reason. Of course it is up to you how much power it expects of the memory controller. Also, we should be conscious of the loss of warranty.

Memory G. Skills can come up with a huge tuning potential. Whether it is to increase the clock speed is now more or exacerbate the latency, the "PI Series kit delivers a truly impressive performance. The kit will work but with a clock frequency of 1.150MHz (DDR3-2300) delivered and reached a maximum in the overclocking tests 1.242MHz (DDR3-2484). More impressive, however, is the tuning potential in terms of latency. The DDR3-2300 mode is possible even with CL7-10-8-28. With the factory latency CL8-11-8-28, the kit even in the DDR3-2400 mode is stable. The DDR3-1600 mode is possible with impressive levels of CL6-7-6-18. Thanks to this truly world-class results, the kit is not just aimed at overclockers but also to performance-conscious gamers and enthusiasts. The kit is a great way to ride with sharper latency at high clock speeds - ideal for those who want to optimize their games a little box. Only the height of the heat spreader and the volume of the "Fan Turbulence" show it as criticism. With a maximum volume of 38.8 dB (A) is the "Turbulence Fan" a real nuisance. A fan controller creates here but help. Remains finally the question "What does the so high-end memory kit? to clarify. The DDR3-2300 Memory of "PI Series" is available in the price comparison for about € 155.00. Although there are better memory kits, but the G.skill kit at a price because of the potential really is better value. By comparison, calls for a similar Corsair memory module 2GiB (DDR3-2400 CL9-11-9-27) $ 190.00. For the price you get with G. Skill has a kit consisting of two modules. The DDR3-2300 kit of the "PI Series" therefore deserves the "Gold Award".
