    question Biostar Motherboard upgrade

I recently replaced my P4 processor from a Asus motherboard to a Biostar 945GC M4. I put 2 1GB DDR2 800mhz ram in it, the specs are for 667mhz, would this prevent my system from even booting to BIOS?

No it will not prevent the system from booting to Bios. You can work well. Check out for the configuration that it should be appropriate. Overclocking can be helpful. Make sure that the system board and then processor should be compatible. Check for the manual. You may get the clear idea for the same.

    sad Re: Biostar Motherboard upgrade

Ok well here is the situation. I replaced my motherboard from an Asus to a Biostar using my same P4 478 chip. I try to boot and no video, fans run but no bios screen. I don't have any cards attached. Tried 2 different sets of ram. Don't think I grounded anything, all motherboard connections are using the existing posts and no posts are left blank.

I suppose you will require ram support DDR2 400/533/667 MHz on your Biostar 945GC M4 motherboard. Remove all hard drives, keyboards and mouse, and also try clearing the CMOS for 10-15 minutes. Check by attaching only the processor and ram on the motherboard to see whether it boots to the bios screen or not.
