I had similar problem some months ago and determined to keep my DDR2 modules. If you are having AMD Bulldozer (AM3+) which support AM3(DDR3) then it may support F7k BIOS. But if you are done with Gigabyte GA-M720D-US3 then make sure to apply F7k BIOS to use hexa-core CPU

I newly got a Gigabyte motherboard recently, to update your BIOS you have a application in the Installer CD known as @BIOS. It is just a simple program through which you can update your motherboard BIOS easily. I tried it number of times and I will ensure you that its make a good difference during updating of bios.

For the BIOS update for the gigabyte motherboard there is a Gigabyte Mainboard @BIOS Live Update Utility as it offers for free download to add, install, update and setup . The best way is to download the latest version from the Gigabyte office website as the one you got from the CD wil give you more problem then fixing your problem.

In order to get CPU Core Control just catch the PCIe bus at 100mhz and place the memory multiplier to 2.00.All time set voltage yourself it makes you sure that what occurrence with them. Also make sure to disable the smart fan control to execute the processor fan at 100% duty cycle every time.
