As has been released some time ago, are already among us the specifications S-ATA 3 (6Gbps) and USB 3.0 (5Gbps), and although the variety of devices that make use of these are very scarce, fact is that increasingly more and more people will be able to take advantage of these substantial improvements in speed. However, today we are BC to present the holder of these new specifications, with you, the fantastic P55A-UD6 manufactured by Gigabyte, a company highly regarded for maintaining an outstanding quality standard in each of their products. This motherboard which is the P55 Express chipset, provides the well-known socket LGA 1156 platform and carries Lynnfield to an extent never seen before as far as performance is concerned, since it includes Ultra Durable 3 technology, and no fewer than 24 stages of power. So without further ado, let's meet this technological marvel.

The design of the packaging of the Gigabyte P55-A UD6 is truly amazing, wearing an unsurpassed aesthetic quality assembly to materials that denotes a commitment to Gigabyte for the consumer. But perhaps most striking about the packaging is the badge "333 Onboard Acceleration", having this because the product in question has released the latest technologies to the market in terms of data transmission is concerned.

The packaging as you can see has a type design "book", by which we can see the motherboard through a plastic window. After opening the packaging we chose to analyze the complete bundle including by Gigabyte, it is composed of four manuals which are listed all the technology incorporated in the motherboard, a CD with drivers, four S-ATA cables 3 1 cable P-ATA (IDE), 1 backshield I / O, a bracket with 2 eSATA + 1 molex connectors, along with their corresponding extensors, and includes an SLI connector.

The motherboard layout is correct other, displaying the space that offers a solution ATX, Gigabyte includes everything you need in day to day, and even more. While in the back of the motherboard we find a metal backplate and a PCB-laden solder logical. The backpanel I / O connector is comprised of a PS2 (keyboard or mouse), 6 USB 2.0 ports, two eSATA / USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports (blue), Dual Gigabit LAN Realtek hand, 2-out S / PDIF Optical & Coaxial, besides having two connectors IEEE1394 (Firewire). But that's not all, as the P55A-UD6 is extremely thorough in all sections, and that if we continue with the usual visual tour, we encountered 2 PCI-E 1x slots, three PCI-Express x16 and two PCI 2.1 slots (conventional).

The P55A-UD6 features a handy LED Debug, who will save us the time required to detect flaws in various components connected to the motherboard, by various codes. While in the next picture look nothing less than 8-ATA ports S clearly identified by colors and specifications (S-ATA 2 / S-ATA 3), responsible for managing these last SE9128 Marvell chip. Under this little cooler, where the tour starts then contemplate the heatpipe in greater detail, is the Intel P55 Express, who as we all know includes all the features that were previously divided into two chipsets (Northbridge and Southbridge). Beside we are with 6 slots for DDR3 memory types, being able to use the classic use Dual Channel technology, doubling the bandwidth intern.

The heatpipes are continuing their journey aided by good bearing coolers to keep all important heat sources under control. Behind the backpanel I / O, more precisely behind the PS2 port, is the assistant EPS connector, designed to distribute more power over all copper tracks embedded in the pcb. One of the stars of the motherboard is the chip developed by NEC, because it is who gives you all the power and compatibility of USB 3.0 technology. While its side have 2 Realtek 8111 who are responsible for providing us with the functionality Dual Gigabit LAN.

The release of new processors Lynnfield of Intel brought a deluge of motherboards for them, while the manufacturers was sending samples to specialized media long before the release date, it joined the large number of specimens in the shops in the area made the launch of the new Intel chipset a great success, even more so considering the high performance of its processors, manufacturing a plate P55 high-performance was cry and silver. Gigabyte understood and us in this opportunity the top model line, the P55-UD6, a motherboard to look at what we know we are better.

    Re: Information about Gigabyte P55-UD6

The box of the Gigabyte P55 UD6 is simply enormous, as was that of the EX58-Extreme tested in its time. Without opening the box, we can already see the motherboard in a transparent plastic film. The PCB (printed circuit board) of a blue card is identical to all the latest maps of the manufacturer and the technology uses 2oz copper. It is to double the thickness of the PCB tracks dedicated to power various components of the motherboard. The flow of electrons will be doubled and the heat from the components more evenly distributed compared to a standard PCB.

This motherboard is in the family of Gigabyte UD3 and incorporates a lot of power phase, 24 to be exact, a large number of phases which assures a high stability under load.

Aggressive appearance with these heat sinks and many coils (choke) floating around its PCB, the blue color gives it a gentle touch and peaceful sight. A plaque that inspires respect, inspired and inspiring performance overclock.

The card has 4 DIMM ports supporting dual channel DDR3. These ports are powered by two phases. The processor is powered him by twenty-four phases cooled by two large radiators connected and the rest of the radiators by a heatpipe. The CPU is powered from a single 8-pin ATX12V connector. Unlike other motherboards P55, P55 chipset is placed near the socket and not near as SATA ports on the other motherboard. The radiator cools the chip that P55 is located in the middle of the motherboard. The small heater near ports Sata only serves to cool the chip SATA controllers can be added or just to decorate! The card is also equipped with the technology Dual BIOS manufacturer.

The rear panel of the Gigabyte P55 UD6 is very comprehensive as this area has a PS2 keyboard, nine USB 2.0 ports (including mini USB) ports, two RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire and two eSATA ports. It also features analog audio outputs and digital inputs and outputs 7.1 audio codec managed by the HD 8-channel audio. The UD6 is equipped with three PCI Express 16X, 16X running in, 8X and 4X. In addition to three PCI Express 16X, is entitled to two PCI-Express 1X and two PCI slots.
