From gtx 260 core 216 to ati hd 5850

Over time, GPUs have become increasingly complex and finally become real monsters even in comparison with Processors last generation as the Core i7 and Phenom II X6. The 5850 MADD has 800 cores (also known as stream processors ) that are grouped into 160 groups penta dimensionels ( in 5 dimensions). Can anybody know the up gradation from gtx 260 core 216 to ati hd 5850. Please suggest. Thanks.

According to AMD, the HD 5000 has been optimized to compute non- graphic (the HD4000 were not ). So the performance in ATI Stream , OpenCL and DirectCompute 11 will be much better. This evolution of the GPU is needed to " stick "to different versions of DirectX with the main purpose of increasing power for rendering more realistic . Today , there are only two manufacturers of graphicsATI and Nvidia, which is competing for leadership of a market always changing.

After HD 4000 who shows all the colors to nVidia, ATI and consolidates his lead has unveiled the specifications of its future HD 5850 and HD 5870. While the market had long been dominated by nVidia, ATI is suddenly back in force thanks to cards offering excellent performance for a price below the competition. And to say that success has been the appointment. Indeed, ATI has recently announced that no less than two million HD 4000 have been sold . With such advances , it would have been a shame for Ati to rest on his laurels and still see his rival regain the advantage.

The HD 5850 GPU will be clocked at 725 MHz and the video memory ( 512MB GDDR3) will be at 1400 MHz . Its bigger brother the HD 5870, will have a GPU clocked at 900MHz while the video memory ( 512MB always , but this time the GDDR5 ) running at 1000 MHz. As the table indicates , an outlet for the HD 5870 is scheduled for January 2009 , while the HD 5850 will be available a few months later, in March. Note that ATI took the opportunity to announce a further cut to its HD 4850 X2.

It would bother me not appoint Ati cards based on the RV775 HD5800 , since it is still a new GPU , the RV770 with the arch ( very ) slightly revised. While Nvidia out pell - mell, Geforce 9800 with the same GPU as 8800, multiple GPUs possible for the same trade name ( 8800/9800GT and 9600GT ) , a new GPUs on one card with the same name ( 8800GTS ), several versions of the same card ( GTX260 , where vendors are not even obliged to clarify the situation) , and names for its mobile products simply unfair: a 9600M GT is less powerful than a 9500GT , it's ridiculous !

I find it quiteharmful policy on Nvidia GTX260. They first released a " new " GTX260 + reactivating deactivated 24SP ( roughly 5 % of PERF more. .. ) , and created the confusion, the sellers were not required to mention whether the "+ " , and people have got burned by buying a GTX260 to a GTX260 + price . And they have added a layer leaving a GTX260 + with a GT200b . Of course , people who have received a GTX260 + 55nm will not complain, but we can only blame Nvidia this lack of clarity , and precipitation always adding new products to save the furniture . For cons , I agree with you, Nvidia has once played by calling the Franco GTX280 " 55 " in GTX285 is more clear.
