I think you need to be specific about the exact intel processor you want to compare ur amd processor with.
If you got both at Rs.6200 then the price is proper. As far as I know the AMD Athlon II X2 250 comes for Rs. 4550 and the motherboard which you mentioned comes for Rs. 2800 approximately. So if you combine bone that comes nearabout your amount. Intel is bit more costlier than amd but the processor is fine. AMD revives indeed the mark with an Athlon Athlon II, also dual core. What good are these processors meet the minimum need with Intel Core 2 Duo are virtually everywhere.
thanks for the feed. my problem is that i read somewhere that this mobo has a old chipset design & leads to overheating. could someone suggest a super mobo for AMD x2 250. Thanks
Dear vimalupreti,
The AMD X2 250 costs Rs.3100 now, peterAGASSI is wrong. i know this because i have an all India computer hardware pricelist, updated at least one a month, but it must have been Rs.3300 when you bought it. As for the mobo, it comes for around Rs.2100.
I think peterAGASSI is from abroad and they dont know that India has the cheapest hardware prices thanks to China(shipment and transportation is low)!
If you are talking of overheating of the processor, you should know that Athlon II processors have a tendency to overheat.
As for a moherboard i would suggest the Asus M2A74AM (Rs. 2800, AM3 socket partially supported) or if you can stretch your budget, the ECS A785GM-M (around Rs.5000, AM3 socket fully supported). The ECS has DDR3 RAM, along with AMD's latest chipset; the 850x. this motherboard is really value for money if you can pay for buying new DDR3 RAM.

thanks for the advice.
Gigabyte S series GA-M61PME-S2P Main Board comes out with lots of
drawbacks --
1.gives data execution prevention error.
2.not support all types of memory e.g. ZION
3.operating system gives reference address error for main memory.
and more....
--After purchase from dealer I give this board to service center as it
showing AMD processor as " Unknown Model ". The service centre
feared to make Flash the BIOS to its latest version. I thought before
through this board to Recycle bin of Municipality let me Flash the
BIOS. After Q-Flash it recognize the AMD processor with a "patch ID".
This is a Miracle Mainboard by GIGABYTE "SN092350004691, check number 7316"with dual BIOS , Flash BIOS, Xpress BIOS with lots of BIOS with no company boot logo. A board immediatly after purchase have to flash the BIOS.
The board is still with me. I am now trying to understand its hardware architecture. I think GIGABYTE has forget to solder some important microchips in the board.
You may refer more details about it from
"http://www.hardwaresecrets.com"
So conclusion is that NO processor fits to this mainboard .

One of the common criticisms of Core 2 Duo, despite its overall greater performance over competetively priced AMD chips, is that it simply costs more money to build a whole system. After all, you rarely see a 975X board for much less than $200, and P965 boards are in the $150 range. NVIDIA chipsets aren't out just yet, but when 590-SLI does arrive for Intel chips, it will be a high-end solution, with motherboards costing no less than $150 as well. ATI getting bought by AMD doesn't help matters either.
