Inspiron 6000 laptop battery indicator

Hello to all,
I am having problem with dell Inspiron 6000 laptop battery indicator. From last 2 months this light has been flashing amber. The WINDOWS power meter shows 100% battery. I able to use laptop battery only for 2 -1/2 hours. Can anyone tell me how to stop the light from flashing. Please help me.

As per my knowledge your battery is defective and that's why you are getting such type of problem. This is because meaning of flashing amber light that you battery is defective. It may get damaged and that's why you are getting such type of problem. In this case you have to replace your battery with new one to stop this flashing amber light.

I think you have to use Dell™ QuickSet Battery Meter to get information about your battery.

If Dell QuickSet is installed, press <Fn><F3> to display the QuickSet Battery Meter. The Battery Meter displays status, battery health, charge level, and charge completion time for the battery in your computer.

From your information it seems that there is some problem in the Dell AC adapter and that's why you are getting such type of problem. In this case just try to use another Dell AC adapter with your laptop. If you didn't get any problem with new Dell AC adapter, then it means that your old Dell AC adapter is faulty one. Just replace it with new one.

I also had the same problem and then I able to fix this problem by using following steps. I think you also use it.
1. Reinstall the battery.
2. Use the AC adapter to connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
3. Turn on the computer.

Just try to re-install battery in your computer. You can do this in the following way.
1 Ensure that the computer is turned off.
2 Slide and hold the battery-bay latch release on the bottom of the computer, and then remove the
battery from the bay.
3.Slide the battery into the bay at a 45-degree angle.
4.Press the other side down until the latch release clicks

There may be several reason behind this problem like following.
If the battery status light flashes orange or is a steady orange,
the battery charge is low or depleted. Connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
If the battery status light flashes green and orange, the battery is too hot to charge. Shut down the computer, disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet, and then let the battery and computer cool to room temperature.
If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the battery may be defective.
