Buy Ram for iMac with Intel Core i7?

    Hello everyone,

Otherwise to return to the subject, I have white macbook, and I just splurge on an iMac 27 'i7 I kept setting "home" with 2 strips of 2GB of Ram, I expected to add 2 * 2 for by buying from a site like Macway ; Am i making mistake? I'd take the direct 4 * 2GB? Is it enough to take the DDR3 or are there any incompatibilities with the original RAM?

Thank you in advance for your response

    Hello,

No, its fine. This will cost you almost 2x less expensive. Any Ram as it's DDR3 1066MHz SODIMM. You will find strips of 2GB to between 60 to 70$

Personally, I see that in MacWay they have the ram that bears their name and DANE-ELEC.

I would trust the Corsair for the same price.

Go with newegg.com, it gives less prices as compare to rest buying sites, as per my observation. I love newegg but for RAM for new iMac, I went with OWC (Macsales). I just picked up a 2GB 667mhz So-Dimm, A-Data with Lifetime Warranty for $60 after rebate.

There are any options to buy from, first evaluate the upgrading possibilities. For instance, you may be able to use your old RAM along with the new one, resulting in a speedier machine at a low cost. Buy RAM from retailers such as Circuit City or Best Buy etc. You can also visit any of these stores and learn more about your options.

You can use any Small-Outline dual inline memory modules (SO-DIMMS) that meets all of these criteria:
    • PC3-8500
    • Unbuffered
    • Nonparity
    • 204-pin
    • 1066 MHz
    • DDR3 SDRAM

You can use RAM module sizes of 1 GB, 2 GB or 4GB in each slot.
