I am also having the Intel Quad Core processor but i will suggest you to opt for Intel i5 or the Intel ore 2 Duo. Dont buy the Intel Quad core processor. Its performance delivery is not good as compared to the Intel Core 2 Duo. I will not recommend you to buy the Intel Quad Core But it is totally your decision, if you want then you can go ahead.

The selection of the processors also depends on the Motherboard of your computer system. The motherboard should be compatible with the processor which you are buying. So always buy the processor which supports to your motherboard. I you will buy the processor which does not supports the Motherboard then either you computer will not work and suppose if it starts then it will not work properly. So selection of the processor according to the Motherboard is very important.

Go for the core i5 its performance is lot better than that of quad core. But you need to change your motherboard to get supported the i5. Try asus sabertooth 55i or p755 evo these are quite good mb you can go with. If you are tight on buget then go with intel p55 mb they are starting only form 5500rs
