unsure Help in building new PC

hi i want to build a desktop

i am confused with the config and have gone through the threads here

m planning to get i7 920 or Quad Core Q9550 ( or core 2 extreme if anyone suggests)
please give me some idea about the motherboard which would be best suited for these 2 processors

my main motive is to run virtual machines using hyper v or vmware, so is it worth getting i7 and expensive ddr3 ram for that or quad core will server the purpose

i plan to buy a ps3 later but since i dont want to change the config soon please suggest me some graphics card that wud be good

also please let me know wt power supply would be gud for the config

budget is not a problem , it should just server my purpose as i do not want to change it in near future

    Thanks

Intel Core i7 920, 940 and 965 Extreme – this series from Intel has already been crowned the king of all computer processing units(CPUs). I like Intel boards for core2 duo; you can set the cpu fan speed in the bios from 0 to 10 or 15 on many boards, I use 0 and a starting point of 43c. I can barely hear the fans. For the other fans, use a zalman fan controller. I turn mine to the lowest setting.

Processor is a vital component if you need to run heavy softwares which need fast processing. Processor has cache memory which is a key feature in fast processing. I would advice you to go with Core i7 if possible...

Thanks for the reply , unfortunately i was not able to get I7 due to availability issues and i could not wait anymore , i got

    3.4GHz Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
    MSI 785GM-E65 Motherboard
    coolermaster 600watt and coolermaster cabinet

I got cpu and motherboard around 18k but i think i overpaid for the motherboard
this question doesnt matter now, but is this config good?

Also i was told that this would support ddr3 1600 mhz , m just not sure, i have ddr3 1333 mhz right now
