What are the merits and demerits of Amd and intel processors according to usage (home use, gaming ,animation, etc)
Amd D best
Intel only Name
Please give the reason
Main and big reason is user experience amd is best for graphics and animation processing while while Intel was known for home user where Time is changed as amd comes with new and best cooling solutions Amd is getting more popular and performer where some mother boards form intel was quite problematic in asia that was trouble for name also people refers to what the like ....
intels big market share is only in asian countries esp. india/china/singapore etc.
common people here have no idea what is amd and they simply stick to intel cz of its ads and right from cyber cafes/offices/home users and laptops its only intel intel and intel! thus intel has grabed peoples mind.
Intel brings fastest processors as they call it but without waiting too long amd introduces kiss -ass processors against intel.
amd's dual cores can even beat intels quad in todays world.
they r cheap, affordable and really juice sqeezing.
amd's come ready for overclocking and have all such capabilities which intel lacks.
anyways intel just sells on its brand name bt smart people know wht to go for!
BTW same applies to battles between ati n nvidia.

AMD or Intel
How to choose a processor ?
Today AMD does have a edge over intel wrt price/performance ratio with their Phenom II line up. But this this was a lot different a year or two back when core 2 cpus offered a much better price/performance ratio and AMD was plagued by issue's in their Phenom line up. If you look at history of both chip manufacturers you'll see that the price/performance ratio keeps swinging like a pendulam. Though AMd has traditionally been cheaper than intel.
"amd's dual cores can even beat intels quad in todays world."
This is simply not true. Any dual core cpus (AMD/INTEL) cannot match performance of quad core CPU if both have same clock speeds.
I currently own AMD Phenom II X3 but beforre that I had a Core 2 CPU.
I always look at price/performance ratio when buying.
