System Specifications for animation student

It's really nice to know that you are doing animation, but to provide you the exact configuration that will be needed for you as per your requirement. You have to let us know what is your basic applications that you work with like maya,etc.
Second important thing is your budget. How much you are willing to spend?(I know you said minimum). Since you have a nice option assembling your system with second hand components.

Animation student is my neighbour. Now he learning MAYA and 3D max. Our concept is an good motherboard ( suitable for latest intel processors and ram) and a low cost processor for his study level.

Here is the best Configuration for animation work

• Motherboard go for Intel DG33 / DG35 / ASUS P5Q WS/P5E Deluxe
• NVIDIA 8800GT/9800GTS graphics card of minimum 512MB/1GB dedicated memory.
• Processor-intel core 2 duo 2.8GHz
• Cooler master 450W or more
• 2GB DDR2 RAM, go for 800MHz or you can put 667MHz.

You should go with AMD processor , if you are looking for a decent PC for animation .

Animation student amd is best my suggestion amd 9550 with amd 780 motherboard get power around 500w no need of graphics card on board is enough capable..

I would advice you to purchase -

Original Intel Motherboard
Latest processor
Nvidia Quadro FX series graphic card
Atleast 2GB RAM. But more than 2 GB RAM is recommended for better performance
Atleast 360 GB Hard-disk SATA for longer purpose
DVD Writer
LAN card (if not inbuilt) nowadays it is an inbuilt feature
17'' or 19'' monitor
